Georgia’s first-week 46-point win over Oregon looks better and better every week, especially with UCLA’s No. 9 ducks destroyed.
Georgia may have been in farewell week but she was still a Week 8 winner. That’s because Oregon makes her season opener win more valuable by the week.
The duck bulldog, 49-3, was slaughtered in the first week. At the time, it was certainly an impressive win but there were also questions about whether Oregon had overstated it. The ducks dropped from 11th place to unranked after the loss.
Since then, Oregon has proven not to be overkill. Georgia is just that good.
Georgia football could argue it has the best win in CFB thanks to Oregon
Oregon just met UCLA’s No. 9, one of the most famous teams in college football, and stopped Dorian Thompson Robinson and the Bruins in their tracks. While the Ducks scored the touchdown, they forced the UCLA to score field goals. Bo Nicks reminded the college football world for being consistently named as Heisman’s candidate for the Black Horses.
It was a great win for Oregon. It was also a win for Georgia.
An upcoming AP poll will see Oregon hover around the top five so far this year, Tennessee has had the best win in college football against Alabama. In terms of the rankings, the Ducks proved that Georgia really does have the biggest win of the season so far, especially given the winning margin.
Bulldogs will have plenty of chances in the last month of the regular season to strengthen or lose the top spot. They will face Tennessee in two weeks. This match is more important than comparing any opponent.
However, a biography would play a big role in the College Football Playoff rating, and his Georgia biography was boosted by the success of Oregon.
So Dan Lanning’s connections aren’t the only reason Georgia fans keep an eye on the ducks.
